Alectormancy: derived from the Greek word 'alector' meaning 'rooster'. Alectormancy was used by the Romans to identify thieves. It is a form of divination using a cocks/ hens, which are allowed to peck at grain thrown on the ground. Once the birds have finished pecking at the grain, the diviner then interprets the patterns the birds have left on the ground.
