To dream of hearing a bell ringing is a forewarning to be on the alert.  It was once indicated to hear a bell tolling suggested the warning of disease or even death! This meaning is now less prevalent now.

It also indicates we may desire to communicate with someone whom is far away or we may feel the constant need of approval from others. The bell in a sense can be looked upon as a lucky sign, as it forever warns us to take notice, and forewarns of approaching dangers.
